About
Hello, I’m
Laura
I’m a freelance creative and marketing consultant based in Great Dunmow, Essex, and I run F&R Creative Co. Most of my work has come through word of mouth, so if you’ve never been quite sure what I do, this page is for you.

Where I started
15 years in property and housebuilding marketing
Before going freelance I spent 15 years in property and housebuilding marketing, most recently client-side in a senior role at a large national housebuilder. It was busy, it was fast, and it taught me things I still use every single week with small businesses.
That’s where I learned to plan campaigns months ahead, work closely with sales teams, and show what a marketing budget was actually doing for the business.
“
I didn’t plan to start a business. I planned to go back to my job.

Why I went freelance
Working on my own terms
So I started F&R Creative Co., working on my own terms, around my boys, doing the part of marketing I love most. Within four months of launching I was fully booked, which I’m still a little bit proud of.
I know I’m not the only one. A lot of the most capable freelancers I know started the same way, because the job they loved didn’t have room for the life they had.
The story behind the name
Built around family life
F&R stands for Flynn and Rian
They’re my two boys. When I went freelance after maternity leave, I wanted a name that reminded me every day why I was doing it. Not a buzzword or a clever play on marketing, just the two people the whole business is built around.
It’s also a good reminder for my clients that the person behind the work has a life she’s protecting, and I think that makes me better at protecting their time too.
From client-side
What in-house marketing taught me
Working client-side taught me that marketing only works when it’s planned ahead, connected to sales and measured on the numbers the business cares about. I bring that same thinking to every business I work with, whatever its size.
